If a career in media is what you’re striving for and want to get some hands on professional experience this might be for you.

Calling all creative individuals with a love of music, radio, youth culture and all things digital - the ‘Take It On’ paid internship scheme has two rounds this year, the first being July 7th - August 29th and October 13th - December 5th. You’ll be working across a range of departments from live events to programme teams.

It’s an excellent way to build on your media knowledge while undoubtedly learning a lot more on the way. During your internship you’ll be given a mentor that’ll help you along the way. At the start of your internship you’ll be given a research brief to work on throughout your stay at the station. There will be a range of people on deck to support you as you develop this brief before you have to present it to senior management. Look at it as a chance to dazzle and impress people you could be working for down the line.

Ideally, you’ll be someone who has a good knowledge of the current Radio 1 & 1Xtra schedule and programme and will have a good understanding of how content and different technologies help build the stations relationship with their audience.

We’ve only just touched the surface of what the opportunity offers, to get the full low down and to apply visit the website. Applicants must be 18+ and the deadline for applications is Monday April 7th

Please note that this internship is aimed mainly at people who are interested in the off-air operations of the station. So if you want to be a presenter don’t apply thinking you’ll be given airtime as that’s not the aim of the internship. By all means apply if you do eventually want to become a presenter but are also interested in the behind the scenes operations.

    All the best!
