BTEC Success!

We found this story on the Air Cadets North website.

Two cadets from 1151 (Wallsend) Squadron Air Training Corps have gained their BTEC Level 2 in Public Services with distinction from the CVQO.

Sgt Adam Mcann (left), a construction apprentice, age 17 from Wallsend and Cpl Liam Elliott (right) an administrator in a local law firm, age 17 from Rose Hill recorded their cadet activities and development under the direction  Fg.Off Button of 1151 Squadron in the BTEC workbook.

Along with the practical and theoretical knowledge gained personal and teamwork skills were tested as both these young NCOs developed their leadership skills in and off the unit.

Sgt McCann stated

“We did most of the activities as part of our normal squadron work anyway so with just a little more effort I got a Level 2 BTEC.  Although I have a job the extra qualifications are always of use”

Cpl Elliott said

“it was fun doing the extra activities and it was worth doing”.

Squadron Commander Flt Lt Nigel Yarrow congratulated the two young men and remarked that it was more than pleasing to see young people from Wallsend achieving while enjoying themselves and developing into responsible adults.
