Former ACFA Chairman presents cadet certificates in Glasgow

Cadets from Glasgow and Lanarkshire Army Cadet Force were presented with certificates for their CVQO-led qualifications at the Trades Hall in Glasgow on Thursday 30 May. The certificates were presented by former Chairman of the Army Cadet Force Association, Colonel John Kelly.

Three cadets were presented with their CVQO-led BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork, Personal Skills and Citizenship - the first qualification they had received, many aged just 13.

Three cadets received their CVQO-led BTEC Level 2 in Music and two cadets received their CVQO-led BTEC Level 2 in Public Services.

Glasgow and Lanarkshire Commandant Colonel Pat O'Meara welcomed the cadets and their parents and publicly thanked those who had helped to fund the qualifications. He paid tribute to the outstanding contributions of the adult volunteers, some of whom were present on the evening, who commit their time and energy to helping cadets.

Col O'Meara told the cadets, “The CVQO qualifications take young people and give them life.”

Guy Horridge, CVQO Executive Director, congratulated the cadets on their achievements, saying, “The internationally recognised BTEC starts you on the ladder of education. These qualifications have been earned through hard work and determination and you should be very proud.”
