Even Taking Pictures, Makes a Difference

Maybe you’ve already seen the new items we added to our shop yesterday. This week, we got in a new color version of the scarf which is made from 100% Viscose in India. They are so soft and a great accessory to wear on a chilly evening. Even in summer. I’m happy that I was given the task to take some photos for our website. Although I have some experience in photographing people and landscapes, it turned out to be quite difficult to take a proper photograph of the two scarfs. First, I had to arrange them nicely, which didn’t take me long. But somehow the red color never came out naturally on the monitor, so it took me many tries to get a picture we could use on the website.

The other item we added recently is “The Star Thrower”. This little Starfish pin is handmade by women in South Africa. With the money gained from selling them, Until There’s A Cure supports “Our Fertile Ground” whose mission is to support communities affected by HIV/AIDS so you can be sure that your help gets to where it is needed.

I really enjoyed being the official UTAC photographer for the day.  Not only do I love photography, but it’s always a great feeling to have a tangible outcome at work so you can really see where your efforts are going.  A lot of my work at UTAC includes brainstorming and trying to come up with new ways to get people’s attention and raise awareness.  This is a hard task itself, but feels even more difficult when most of the time I can’t see exactly how my work is making a difference.

Just like The Star Thrower, I have to remember that every little bit makes a difference - at least to one person.  And I just have to keep reminding myself that.  But, for one day, it was nice to be able to have a tangible outcome from my efforts.

Make a difference every day,

Philipp
