If you’re like me - most people on your feed agree with you: last night was horrible, happened because of guns, and we need to do something. Instead of posting in abstract encouraging everyone to do something, scan your network strategically. Who can you ask, personally, to make a donation? Who do you know isn’t registered to vote or doesn’t? How can you use this to persuade them? Who hasn’t made a call to their representative? Do they know who those people are? Are they aware of the bill that could make silencers easier to attain? Don’t ever underestimate the power you hold to make a personal ask - it’s how we win. If this feels like a breaking point, do something, and not just something that will get love from people who do it too, but something that will being more people, money, and power into the movement with you. This morning I donated to Everytown for Gun Safety, am finding a local event in support of gun control, and plan to call my Rep in opposition to the SHARE Act. I hope you’ll join me, and I’ll be reaching out.
