BUGGIES IN THE DRIVEWAY

Here at Treading Art we are all about the tours. Organized tours that offer an opportunity to experience something unique and noteworthy about a region. This fondness most likely stems from being in the business and encountering the positive effect of cultural education.

It was to my intrigue when I received an invitation from Pittsburgh Tours & More to take part in one of their outings. As a supplement to the Pittsburgh Transportation Group, Tours & More is a newer endeavor with such a diverse collection of treks they can please any member of your picky, recreationally-diverse family.

I chose to participate in The Amish Experience (little known fact: I am exceptionally intrigued by the Amish) that took place on a Saturday from morning until late afternoon. From the moment I joined the others on the shuttle it was clear that details are a key component in the experiences they curate. Ice water at our disposal to help us awake and homemade granola bars (still dreaming of these) to tease our palettes for the day ahead, full of goodies and treats.

After a beautiful fall drive north towards Grove City we exited the freeway for a scenic route towards more rural country. I am somewhat familiar with this area from antique hunting so it was interesting to become privy to new venues. Our day continued with a visit from a vibrant woman who left the Amish community when she was a young teenager. She provided us with a unique look into this culture that would have otherwise been unavailable. The day then continued with several other stops where we soaked in the Amish style of life, surrounding countryside and the residents that have settled in around them.

If lately you have been yearning for different weekend activities or will be hosting friends and family over the winter season I would look into Pittsburgh Tours & More. They have taken a broad look at the greater Pittsburgh area and put together a round-up of tours that helps define this part of the Rust Belt.

 Here’s to adventurous treading ~Christine
