TA TRAVELS: ADIRONDACKS

Central Adirondack Region Suggestions….
The Fulton Chain of Lakes includes 8 separate lakes and is a great excuse to rent a ski boat or pontoon and cruise from First to Fifth Lake (afterwards you must portage to get to the other ones).
Have lunch on Fourth Lake at Northwoods Inn (insiders tip: they’re pet friendly).
Daikers is great for their killer patio high in the trees above Fourth Lake. Their menu is big and tasty and so are their drinks!
- Old Forge Pond begins the Fulton Chain of Lakes but is not included in that 8 count.
- Kayak around Big Moose Lake or rent stand up paddle boards from The Big Moose Inn. There are mysterious islands to explore and spectacular, over the top boat houses.
- For a nice, family style dinner make reservations at The Old Mill, an Old Forge institution.
- Tony Harper’s Pizza & Clam Shack is a must. So don’t be surprised when you end up there more than once!
- If you’re in need of some ‘mainstream’ for an evening take a step back in time at Strand Theatre where concessions include ice cream!
- Forget your figure and visit the family owned Donut Shop; your choices are regular and cinnamon (an Adirondack tradition). And shoot some pictures of their landmark sign.
- Walk around Moss Lake, a National Natural Landmark, and spot osprey if you’re lucky.
- Old Forge Hardware is a great stop on your way into town to get you in the mountain spirit. Find everything you never knew you needed.
- Tour the Vanderbilt family’s wilderness estate, Great Camp Sagamore.
- Empty your pockets at Wilderness Interiors, the “fluffy store”, on Main Street amongst the other Old Forge shops.
- Drive out to Blue Mountain for a hike, visit the museum, and stop in Long Lake for soft serve at Custard’s Last Stand.
- For the best boat rental call ahead to Clark’s Marina in Inlet then feast on Moose Tracks at Northern Lights Creamery (Is it obvious I consumed a lot on ice cream on this trip?)
