Spotlight On: JAM Project- Yoshiki Fukuyama
Yoshiki Fukuyama is best known as the singing voice of Basara Nekki in Macross 7, and is a current member of JAM Project. He was also a member of the band Humming Bird, which stylistic was influenced by bands such as Queen and the Beatles.
Shortly after the Macross 25th Anniversary concert, Fukuyama teamed up with voice actor Nobutoshi Kanna (who voices Basara in the series) to do a further series of concerts as the character, under the performing name of Fukujin.
Animerica once described Fukuyama as sounding “eerily like John Lennon” in his Fire Bomber work for Macross 7, and his love for classic rock shines through in his songs.
Fukuyama will be performing as part of Jam Project this March at Anime Boston 2014, where the band will be playing two concerts- together as the full band, and a second individually featuring their solo work.
Some of work we recommend:
-All of his work as Fire Bomber from Macross 7, but if you had to pick a few, “Totsugeki Love Heart!”, “Try Again”, “Seventh Moon”, “Planet Dance”
-“Hikari Naki Yoru wo Yuke”- Ayatsuri Sakon opening theme (as Humming Bird)
-“Ride on the Night” City Hunter: The Motion Picture theme song (as Humming Bird)
