People who have been on the internet for 4+ years and haven’t had their humor devolve into Dadaist, surreal garbage impress me. I miss those years of simple jokes where I could type xD without the slightest sense of irony. Where did our easy happiness go? Where is love? What is it to live a life?

The incredible irony of politicians saying that this is an attack on American values when in reality, homophobia seems like a pretty fucking widespread American value.

By framing the discussion around attacks on ‘Americans’ and 'American values’ they subtley distance the shooter - a homophobic American citizen - from the mainstream population - also homophobic American citizens.

This divide is purposeful; it means people are able to rally around this tragedy without being forced to question their own views and prejudices. It extricates the hatred and the evil to somewhere else, to someone else.
