It’s Easier Being Green

Despite a Republican super majority in the Indiana General Assembly, the Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC) says lawmakers were more more environmentally friendly than one might suspect.

The HEC says by defeating such bills as the “ag gag” legislation as well the right to farm bill and maintaining funding for such agencies as the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Environmental Management, lawmakers did their part to protect the environment.

However HEC Executive Director Jesse Kharbanda says there were some setbacks such as the failure to pass mass transit and instead send it to a summer study committee as well as legislation they say weakens the state’s ability to regulate utility construction projects.

You can hear Kharbanda’s comments below.  They run approximately 15 minutes total.
