“What types of information will the finder of a lost smartphone try to access, and how persistent will they be?” That’s the question that Symantec sought to answer with their Smartphone Honey Stick Project. So, they took 50 smartphones, loaded them a bunch of tempting, albeit fake, personal and corporate data, installed spyware on the devices so that they could be easily monitored, and then proceeded to intentionally lose them in various cities.

What’s their conclusion, you ask? Simple, don’t lose your phone. If you do lose your phone, hopefully it is password protected. However, if you happen to lose it, and it isn’t password protected, then may God have mercy on you: because Symantec’s findings show that the finders probably will not.
