I love the sound of vinyl recorded to tape, even when the mastering is all messed up and the 7" comes out all crunched up, then you get it onto the tape and it compresses and wobbles. Tape wobble, crackle, unintentionally overdriven, haphazard use of analogue compression and limiting, flawed vocals and the wonder of a one take wonder.
I rekindled my love of cassette tapes about two years ago when I bought my friends old car after getting tipsy drunk on cider at a camp site in Essex. It has an odd shaped cassette player, this odd shape means that there is no hope of me upgrading this to a CD player. There’s only so much Radio 4 that a person can take, being able to recite news sound bites word for word is normally a warning sign, before things start to become wrong. So like a bickering 1950s stigma fearing soap opera couple, we’re stuck with each other.
So, here is the tracklisting. I originally made it for my good friend Rich to prove that all this interesting pop music that I’ve been banging on about for months actually exists.
