We're bonkers about buttons!

We were lucky enough to inherit a jar of buttons from our friend’s nana - and we had lots of ideas how to craft with them! We could’ve filled Schools Out with our button ideas but for these holidays we are making bouquets and bookmarks.

Making button bookmarks

These are great to keep your page in a book - and make a lovely little gift to say thank you - or hello too!  It’s easy - so let’s get crafting!

What you’ll need:

Shank style buttons

Paper clips

Your glue gun.

How to go about it:

1. Slide your button around the paper clip up to the end with only one loop.

2. Add a little hot glue to the back of the button, enough to hold to the back of the paper clip. We call that our finished book mark!

PS. If you have any felt you can apply  it to the back of the hot glue and cover the button. We didn’t have any felt so  we just left the back of the buttons bare.

Easy!

A bouquet of buttons

What you’ll need:

Flat buttons of different sizes and colours

Wire (we got ours from the hardware store)

Pliers

1. We put our buttons in piles of different sizes and colours. These will be our flowers.

2. Take a piece of wire, double the length you would like your stalk to be, and thread through the holes in the buttons.

3. Using the pliers, twist the wire round and round until you have your desired length. Cut carefully and you have your button flower!  So cute and colourful!

4. Go find a vase!
