Bistri Web Desktop Notifications
Thanks to Opera and Mozilla that have made the first browsers that implemented the famous “tabs”, now all of them proposes this feature. You can read the full story of TDI on Wikipedia. Behind the scenes, the usage of the memory of your computer is not the same, but anyway, this is probably how your desktop look like now…
So what if someone is trying to call you on Bistri?
We have just implemented the browser notifications, first on Google Chrome while ago, but now, this feature is also available on Safari and Firefox. This is how it looks like :
Safari 6+
1-Notification authorization request
2-Incoming call
Firefox 22+
1-Notification authorization request
2-Incoming call
In the future, we can dream about some Universal Notification/Push Solution, the W3C is working on it (http://www.w3.org/TR/push-api/).
But in a short term, Apple’s aficionados should enjoy Safari 7.0 to bring web notifications to OS X Mavericks. Apple is bringing its push notifications to the web, enabling support for websites to push updates to OS X Maverick users in Safari 7.0 even when their browser isn’t running.(http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/06/28/safari-70-to-bring-web-notifications-to-os-x-mavericks).
