I’ve had a great, busy start to the semester. As always, it all begins with the welcome events on campus, which are great ways to welcome new students and returning students back from the long summer. After moving in and starting the first few days of classes, we had Festifall, a huge event on central campus that highlighted all of the students groups on campus. The entire main diag and surrounding pathways were filled with hundreds of clubs, groups, fraternities, sororities, and teams that students could get involved in. Being around the north campus community most often, I was shocked to see such a large variety of groups students could get involved with, and just how much variety there is.
Two days later was the Go North! Fest, geared more towards engineering. All of the student teams working out of the Wilson Student Team Project Center were there, along with a bunch of non-engineering student groups. This event was also a great way for engineering students and others to see what is out there. To me, its these out-of-class experiences that really define my Michigan experience. There is nothing better than being able to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom outside of it in a meaningful way, while also being able to do it with some amazing friends.
