Job Description: Senior Finance and Administration Manager

Specific Responsibilities

Establish and define the implementation of the finance strategy for Fairtrade America, leading the process of developing annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections. Monitor and report progress to Executive Director and Finance Committee, present financial statements to the Board of Directors.

Lead and coordinate effective management of finance and general administration functions in Fairtrade America, managing all aspects of accounting including book keeping, procurement and regular audits.

Develop and institutionalize strong internal control mechanisms (financial and administrative systems) for the organization. Define standards, goals and monitoring mechanisms, track company performance generating action plans to ensure their achievement against plan.

Ensure that Fairtrade America is in compliance with the statutory regulations of Government, legal, tax authorities, and external auditors.

Responsible for bank accounts and their management, payroll and employee benefit responsibilities, as well as generating invoices and collection of receivables.

Negotiate contract rates and terms with third parties and external providers.

Carry any other duties as may be directed by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • CPA license
  • High personal integrity and honesty
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior position ideally with NGOs
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and accounting packages preferably Simply Accounting
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
  • Entrepreneurial and self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, creative in formulating action plans and assertive in implementing them
  • Keen attention to execution, details and processes
