Welcome Back Everyone!

We have had a lot of changes at The Sumner. The city of Boston put another homeroom in our school. There was no space left, so they put it in the computer lab. This means I am traveling to each homeroom to bring our scholars their technology. The great news is we will be adding iPads to our technology options.
We have started the year with a project from Scistarter.com. All students have now become Citizen Scientists. This means, they doing science experiments proposed by a scientist online, then they collect the data and send it to the scientists.
Our first project is Are US State Quarters Fair Flippers?. This little experiment helps us explore our 50 states, working with other people, coins, multiplication, division, predictions, probability, and collecting data. The most fabulous thing about this lesson is the work we do in the classroom is not only practice for what we do in the real world; it actually IS work for a global science project.
Check out Scistarter.com and let me know how you have become a Citizen Scientist.
