State of the Arts

image

Yesterday President John Maeda (center) spoke at the Rhode Island Arts Charrette, an event organized by the RI General Assembly to look at the impact of the arts on local economic development.

The president is shown here with fellow leaders and presenters (from l–r) RISCA Executive Director Randall Rosenbaum, Governor Lincoln Chafee, RI Foundation President Neil Steinberg, Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed and Fidelity Investments Curator Carol Warner.

RI’s Speaker of the House Gordon Fox also addressed the forum, which focused on ways Rhode Island can foster growth and more jobs in the arts, work with nonprofits, business, government and academic institutions to support a thriving arts sector and essentially “become a State of the Arts.”
