Anonymous asked: It burns my britches every single time someone laments about how Gale's story is so utterly tragic bc he loved Katniss & then he lost her. No. His story isn't tragic bc of an unrequited love. His story is tragic bc his of war tactics & hatred for those who aren't like him. It is tragic bc of his willingness to kill innocent civilians all in the name of war. And no, his poor childhood back in D12 does not excuse any of those actions. Katniss grew up under the exact same circumstances didn't she?

A tragic background does not excuse a character’s problematic actions. Understandable, sure. But sometimes I still get shocked by how some of Gale stans are more offended by the legit criticisms of their fave than the actions of their fave. I just don’t get how anyone could be so casual & nonchalant about what he did & positions he took, or how anyone could lament him not ending up with Katniss but is dismissive about why he didn’t (So much like their fave I guess).
