Los Angeles Nomadic District has a nifty project about to kick off, though you’ll need to schlep to Our Nation’s Capital for the chance to see it in action. ‘Alter, Abolish, Address’ opens tomorrow in Washington, D.C., featuring five artists creating works in abandoned buildings and sites around the capital’s historic core.

It’s a particularly kind of street art, I’d say, spotlighting the contrast between big monuments about the myths and concepts of our country, and the decay that’s seeped into D.C. over decades of neglect and decline. Here’s what LAND says about the project: 

Alter/Abolish/Address confronts and explores the evolving landscape of Washington, D.C. by highlighting the dichotomous notion of historical permanence and temporality, where innovative contemporary art can have impact in concert with this formidable history, allowing past and present to live together. The participating 5 artists – Diana Al-Hadid, Dan Colen, Brendan Fowler, Glenn Kaino, and Marianne Vitale – will engage the cityscape through the use of abandoned buildings and blighted areas within and beyond D.C.’s monumental core.
