Recipe: Nettle Leaf & Lemon Balm Tea via Sweet Roots

  • 2 Tb Raspberry Leaf
  • 2 Tb Nettle Leaf
  • 1 Tb Lemon Balm
  • 1 tsp horsetail
  • 1 tsp oatstraw

Instructions for Making Drinking Tea:

1. Boil one quart of water.

2. Pour over the dry herbs and let sit at least 20 minutes for full herbal benefits or overnight.

3. Strain and enjoy. Refrigerate the leftovers. You can also mix the herbs to use in teas later.

You can also use this recipe for an herbal tea hair rinse. Tea hair rinses can be used after shampooing your kinky hair for an extra kick of moisture.

Instructions for Herbal Tea Hair Rinse:

1. Separate freshly washed natural hair into 4-6 sections and style in large twists.

2. Mix dry herbs together and place in a heat safe bowl. Boil 2-3 cups of water in a tea kettle or pan. Pour the heated water over the herbs in the heat safe bowl. Allow to sit covered for 20 min or until luke-warm.

3. Strain the warm water so that the herbs are no longer in the water. This is your tea.

4. Pour the herb infused water over your hair, collecting the water in another bowl. Pour the collected water over your hair again.

5. Rinse your hair thoroughly with cold water and style as usual.
