If Anastasia and Alexei are not buried with the rest of the family, then where are they?Greetings from Spain, the motherland of Eugénie de Montijo :)

I’m so sorry but I don’t know! When they were recovered in 2007, they sat for a long time in a morgue/ science facility in Ekaterinburg. Because there was so little remains left, it took them quite a long time to establish an identification (which included the dismissal of Anna Anderson’s claims through DNA testing). The last bit of information I had heard was that in 2011 they had moved the remains from Ekaterinburg to Moscow. It’s a disgrace that the entire IF’s remains have not been formally recognise, and even more so that Anastasia (or Maria, whomever one thinks it is) and Alexei are not at rest with their parents and siblings. But Russia has been going through an absolute train wreck of a decade, Putin probably doesn’t have the brain capacity to think of it at the moment. One can only hope that perhaps the Church and RFA will bury them on the centenary in 2018.
