Rashid Rana at Art Dubai 2011
Represented by both Chemould Prescott Road and Chatterjee & Lal, Dubai we spoke to Pakistani artist Rashid Rana in front of his work displayed at Art Dubai 2011.
Born 1968, Rana is billed one of the most important artists of his generation in Pakistan. His broad use of materials and mediums make him a chameleon of form, while he remains steadfast in theme; socio-political tension (from urbanisation to popular culture to faith and tradition) terrorism and photography as subject matters. Works have been on canvas, billboards, photographic/video performances, collages of found material, photo mosaics, photo sculptures and large stainless steel works.
