Old vs. New
There’s just something about antiques that is endlessly enchanting to me. Whether it’s a piece of furniture, an old mirror, a chipped tea cup, or an antique wedding band. Antiques are so inspiring. It’s cheesy, and it’s been said before, but the scratches and marks and love that are visible on an antique tell a story. They’ve been lovingly worn, and those imperfect details add so much interest.
This is one of the most special things I own. It’s the wedding band from my great-grandmother and my namesake, Caroline. The monetary value is small, but for me, the sentimental value is immeasurable. If I could wear it, I would but apparently Carrie had freakishly small hands.
New jewelry is beautiful, but I find that antique jewelry, even if it isn’t worth much, is more akin to art.
The scratches and nicks just mean that someone loves it.
You just can’t find handmade details like these anymore.
I’m usually just window shopping but the jewelry cases in antique stores house the most incredible treasures.
There’s also this guy who seldom leaves my arm. I’m not sure where this one came from; my mom gave it to me to replace another gold bangle I lost.
Do you agree with me or no? Are you an antique-y kind-of-girl?
Oh yeah, are you on Pinterest? You definitely should be. Follow me.
