Benefits of Meditation: Why is it Important to Meditate
If we can only urge the general public to learn how to meditate and practice it more regularly, then people would be healthier, calmer and of course happier. Oftentimes we under-estimate the power of a mere 3-minute meditation in our life, but time and again, it has been proven how just minutes of stillness could calm us down, make us think so differently and let us see more clearly.
This technique of relaxation can benefit you physiologically, psychologically, and even spirituality.
Starting to what it can do for our body physically. Among the many benefits, meditation primarily relaxes our body. A relax mind triggers a more relax nervous system therefore allowing a better body circulation. You can readily notice the improvement with your blood flow and heart rate. Muscle tensions are relieved as well since meditation conditions our body to a deeper level of relaxation. Cases of headaches and migraines are also cured basically because of the improved blood flow in the upper part of our body. It has also been known to have beneficial effects with those suffering from asthma, arthritis, allergies and infertility.
Psychologically, meditation helps us in managing stress by boosting the production of serotonin that affects mood and behavior. We become more focused and concentrate really well as we ‘de-clutter’ our minds with the not so important things we are filling it with. A clear mind thinks and acts more clearly. We begun to exhibit patience towards other people and automatically ignore trivial things that would normally sets us off. Meditation even brings out the creative person that is inside us. It allows us to better understand ourselves and brings out the better and more balanced personality that is long been buried by frustration, restlessness, rage or simply by stress.
Although, its spiritual benefits may very well vary, given that we have different beliefs, still meditation helps provide peace of mind and therefore happiness within us. It helps in reminding us about compassion, about the existence of other people and their relation to us, and about forgiveness and letting go of ill feelings. It enlightens and directs us towards our purpose and creates a deeper relationship to God or to a higher being or simply to nature.
