Happy Hour and a Half at the Mermaid Oyster Bar

I have finally made my way to the Mermaid Oyster Bar.  I’m a follower on their Tumblr blog and I aways drool when they post pictures of their oysters.

Finally, this past Friday my friend Matt and I went for their Happy Hour and a Half deal where east coast oysters are $1 each and west coast oysters are $1.75.  I’m not an oyster expert and didn’t know which oysters to get, so we decided to first try one of each east and west coast oysters to see which ones we liked. The west coast oyster was smaller in size, a little bit brinier than their east coast counterpart, and very smooth.  They tasted like the ocean.  The east coast oyster was larger in size, sweeter, meatier, and less salty. Later we ordered 10 more of the east coast oysters to share. We also ordered a bunch of small dishes: jalapeno corn bread, lobster sliders, shrimp corn dog, and mini fish tacos.  Everything was delicious. They also gave us complimentary chocolate pudding for dessert along with a fortune teller fish. Everything was so good; dinner was just awesome!
