Hiroshima, Japan :: Atomic Dome, Peace Park, Cenotaph, Atomic Museum
I had a truly moving and life changing experience when I visited this industrial city in Japan.
At 8:15 A.M. on August 6 1945 Little Boy, an American Atomic bomb detonated above Hiroshima. Instantly killing around 45,000 people with up to 160,000 people dead within 3 months.
The total number dead will never be known.
The Atomic bomb attack of 1945 is remembered today by the City of Hiroshima through the beautiful Peace Park - comprising of the Atomic Dome (bomb detonated almost directly above this building meaning the building remained relatively intact - all inside the building were killed), Peace Museum, Cenotaph, Children’s Cenotaph and finally a quite park area.
A truly remarkable City, quite literally rebuilt from the ground up.
