During the United Socialist Party of Venezuela’s (PSUV) III Congress this past weekend, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro proposed a follow-up Congress on socialist economy for this December. He reiterated that, “The fundamental agenda and work of the Bolivarian Revolution from now until 2019 is economic. The construction of a productive economic apparatus in the country….the advancement and transition towards a socialist economy.”
Maduro denounced the right wing opposition’s attempts to destabilize the nation over the last year and their attacks on the country’s economy. He also said that the government is developing strategies to control contraband, hoarding, speculation and inflation along with strengthening the country’s economic growth.
