Tom Thewes is an artist that currently lives and works in Detroit, Michigan. He creates highly detailed paintings and murals with spray paint. His subject matter varies from sinister creatures to depictions of super heroes or other iconic pop figures such as Evel Knievel flying through the air. As Owner and CEO he has been very involved in the ©POP Gallery. ©POP Gallery, located in Detroit’s Midtown Cultural Center, was one of the first art galleries in the country that was dedicated to showcasing the “lowbrow” aesthetic. The gallery has featured many top artists such as Mark Ryden, Robert Williams, Eric White, Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, Isabel Samaras, Shag, Shephard Fairey, Ron English, Bask, Yumiko Kawikawa, and more.
