The events are real, but the thoughts and intentions of the arachnids are fictional, as these animals are incapable of grasping the finer points of armed conflict. This is not a DIY guide for controlling spider populations, and I am not an arachnologist, nor a pest control expert. My intention is not to cultivate irrational fear of spiders, but respect and understanding, as these are the best tools for avoiding problems for human and arachnid alike. Spiders, even the scary ones, are a vital part of the planet’s biota, and they are not actually plotting our demise. That’s the job of the mosquitoes.
