Where is the Honour?
You disapprove of how I dress. You disapprove of the choices I have made. You disapprove of my ‘westernized’ style of life. You believe I have shamed the family. But do I deserve to die for that? Would that really restore our family’s honour?
It has spanned generations, cultures, and religions. Even in our modern world it has remained prevalent because some things just never change and some of the same twisted notions still remain. There are those who continue to regard women as the presumed property of their fathers, husbands, and or brothers. Those, who believe the “owner” of these women has the right to decide their fate. As a result of this perverse perception, thousands of women, regardless of race, religions, or class, are murdered each year by their family, those who are supposed to love and protect them, in the name of honour.
