Wealth Distribution in Western New York

The 5 month old non-profit investigative reporting center, Investigative Post, is turning heads with their engaging journalism. They have partnered with several local news networks including Channel 2 creating this infographic, Rich Vs. Poor, together. Infographics truly help people understand information and are able to be created with more ease than ever before. IP and Channel 2 present a segment they call Databank.

In this segment they highlight the poverty disparity in Buffalo with the Lower West Side being the poorest of the entire region making a mere $12,500 for the median annual income while owning 15% of the houses in the neighborhood. Contrasted sharply is Orchard Park, home of the Buffalo Bills, earning over 10 ½ times more and with almost all residents owning the houses they live in. Coincidentally, What’s New Buffalo is based out of the Lower West Side.
