[Exhibition views] FANTÔMES DU JOUR, Guillaume Constantin’s personal photographic exhibition at düo, 27th March-27th April

Since 2008, Guillaume Constantin has been building a photographic memory of materials and forms: the Everyday Ghosts. A body of images, or apparitions, are captured in the moment, and these snapshots are then published online in the order in which they were taken: http://retroactivepictures.tumblr.com/

In this exhibition FANTOMES DU JOUR (‘GHOSTS OF THE DAY’), Guillaume Constantin has chosen to make these photographic objects material again, and by doing so he questions the very principle of demonstration. Sculptural compositions are reframed and fragmented within the space, and in this way Guillaume Constantin questions the codes of photography and, more particularly, its place on our walls. By developing a body of work that is essentially sculptural and installation-based and by challenging the relation to the object, ‘FANTOMES DU JOUR’ extends the possibilities of photography, in all its guises.
