    Happy 2nd Birthday to the San Juan Islands National Monument! 

    On this day in 2013, President Barack Obama signed a proclamation protecting the archipelago of over 450 islands with “an unmatched landscape of contrasts, where forests seem to spring from gray rock and distant, snow-capped peaks provide the backdrop for sandy beaches.” Read the entire proclamation HERE.
