“Content-placency”

“Content-placency” is a word I coined for when complacency overtakes contentment. Coming back to the central thought of: “Why be mediocre when you could be at the very top?”, it’s apparent that once we settle into that comfortable rut, that smooth habitual lifestyle, we hate to be disturbed and taken away from the comforts that we’ve grown accustomed to.

For example, people succumb to peer pressure and jump into a relationship, a marriage and start a family. In no time, they’re “wifed up” with a bunch of kids on the way, They don’t question why, they just do it. Go to work, come home, eat, sleep, gain weight, get old.
Is there no desire to be something better, achieve something more? Better still, how many of them are happy doing what they do?

Opportunities are out there. In the 21st century today, the world is your stage. Think out of your little town, your state, your country. There are so many options and goals to achieve.

Many retort and argue that it’s about responsibility and growing up. You know what? I call bullshit. It’s more of the person being a lil’ bitch, afraid to die alone and succumbing to peer pressure to conform to the norm. Is that really what you want or everyone wants for you?
