Real Bride Melissa

Where and when was your wedding? October 19, 2013- The Cummer Museum and Gardens, Jacksonville, FL
What is the favorite part of your dress? I loved the fabric of the dress and how different it was from typical dresses that I had seen.
What is your greatest memory of wedding planning? Oh man i don’t know! I just had a vision of what I wanted the wedding to look like and I just stuck to it. I loved finding and getting to know all of my vendors that was so much fun for me! I loved my wedding planner, photographer, hair stylist and florist. Those really stuck out to me! I met them and it just clicked, like these are people I’ve known for a long time and can really trust, they just got me!
What advice do you have for brides before they go dress shopping? hmm… i think the advice i give is more of when you ARE dress shopping, because unless you are the size of the models the dress are going to look different on you. So my advice is… Have an idea of what you want, but be open to try on things you wouldn’t normally try on, trust your consultant  she’s a pro. Bring a group of people who build you up and make you feel amazing, but will also tell you if something else looked better on you! If someone is body conscious  they will make you feel such, and you don’t need that, you need to feel beautiful! Also, stay true to yourself, it will be worth it in the end and you will know your dress, just like you knew your fiance was the one. Even if it’s the 50th dress you try on.
What advice do you have for brides to feel more confident and beautiful on wedding day? Surround yourself with love. During the getting ready process make sure you have a great glam squad and that the people in your bridal party will be supportive of you. They are there to support you not the other way around! Keep it drama free and remember what’s important, you’re marring the man you love with the friends and family who love you all around. It’s all about love that day!
What do you know to be true? True friends will always be there to support you and love you no matter what, weddings bring out the best and worst in people. As my now 91 year old grandmother in law said, We’re going to say things you don’t like and You’re going to say things we don’t like, but we will be family and we will love each other.
