RobynHood's Closet

Since I still live in my mom’s house, she still tries to dictate what I can and cannot wear. I swear, anything with color is bad. Anything that has it’s own unique design is bad. Patterns are bad. Graphic t’s are bad. I don’t want to have my outfits picked out for me by some old lady. I don't know how to get around this. I don't want to dress in a way that will make me feel uncomfortable. Do you have any advice?

dang this is really tough girl!! but still do-able!!

My mom was pretty strict on me too though when I was growing up. Do you ever go thrifting? I find older people have an easier time taking in older styles (thrifted or vintage) because it’s usually a bit more conservative than the new stuff being sold now. I really like to go thrifting because you find all kinds of retro pieces that mom may approve of.

Try midi dresses, and cool blazers. I love a good pair of boots!! Preferably combat boots….they give any outfit a different kind of edginess (I especially like to wear them with girly pieces like dresses or skirts). Plain white T’s with the sleeves cut off with baggy boyfriend jeans and some cute open toe sandal heels. Always a chic look!! Beanies are GREAT - actually any kind of hat!! Cool glasses and accessories can also spice up a dull look.

I really like the baggy fit which is really easy to find when you’re thrifting. And the best part is you don’t have to spend a ton of money. You just gotta have a good eye and get creative!! And if she’s really against crazy colors don’t worry cause the monochromatic look is super HOT right now!! Just go for an all black or an all white fit-head to toe!!
