My Top Ten All Time Favourite Glitter Nail Polishes
Guest post for Powder Doom by Alyssa

For those of you who don’t already know me from my blog Random Acts of Pastel, I love all things glittery, especially nail polishes! I mean, there are really very few things in this world more satisfying than looking down at your purrrfectly glittery paws, don’t you think?

The only problem is, so many glitter nail polishes look much better in the bottle than on actual nails, or don’t provide as much coverage as you hoped they would. As a long-time glitter polish enthusiast, I’ve tested and tried so many different glitters, and in turn I’ve created an (ever growing) shortlist of my all time favourites. You can thank me later with glittery photos and suggestions of your own?

1. Butter London “Fairy Cake”
I’m a big fan of anything hologram, and this hologram glitter by Butter London is no exception. A magical rainbow of colours, this polish works great as a topcoat, or on its own with two coats for extra coverage.

2. American Apparel Glitter in “Meteor Shower”
I like this gold glitter polish more than most because of the way the glitter has been cut. The bottle is full of gleaming shards of gold that look almost like real gold leaf when applied to the nail. Wear it in combination with a colour, or just on bare nails for a more subtle look.

3. Deborah Lippmann “Stairway to Heaven”
When it comes to polishes with magical chunks of glitter, Deborah Lippmann is the undisputed queen. Stairway to Heaven is not only my favourite glitter polish, it’s my favourite nail polish period! A pearly white base loaded with tiny iridescent peach, blue and purple shapes, this polish is practically perfect in every way!

4. Sally Hansen Diamond Strength “Diamond Jubilee”
A green-blue irridescent glitter, this polish is the glitter topcoat I reach for every time I want something subtle yet magical. Sadly, this colour was a limited edition product, but it’s still pretty easy to find on Ebay and Amazon.

5. Holika Holika Magic Pop Nail Dazzling in “Blue Aura”
Gazing into this gem-like bottle is like gazing into a crystal ball! A blue and purple pastel iridescent colour, this polish is laced with tiny touches of shimmer and glitter, and promises to make your nails truly magical!

6. China Glaze “Luxe and Lush”
Though it’s difficult to apply this polish due to the big flakey chunks, the result is worth it once you’ve managed to get it on your nails. Comprised of opal like glitter pieces, this polish works best as a topcoat, especially when paired with a pearly polish.

7. Deborah Lippmann “Boom Boom Pow”
Another DL favourite, Boom Boom Pow is a delightfully luxe combo of big glitter chunks in all different shapes, and a golden micro-glittery base. A totally glamorous polish for any occasion!

8. Chanel no. 543 “Frisson”
Though this polish initially looks like a classic french pink, there’s more to it than meets the eye. Once you get this colour in direct light, tiny constellations of pink, gold and silver glitter appear all throughout the peach shade! It’s perfect for subtle sparkly French manicures.

9. Etude House “Mint Choco Chip”
An extremely popular polish by Etude house, this particular polish is now very rare. I got my bottle by scouring Ebay, and eventually I was able to purchase one. Let me say this: it was definitely worth the wait! Packaged in Etude House’s signature ice cream cone bottle, this polish is almost too cute to be true. A mint base laced with rose gold and lime green hexagons, blush pink squares, and tiny black “chocolate chips”, this glitter combo is good enough to eat!

10. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “In The Spotlight”
This chunky holographic glitter polish reminds me of sparklers and fireworks every time I wear it. A clear coat with sprinkle shaped rainbow silver glitter, this polish looks exceptionally good when worn over your favourite pastel polish, or with other more fine glitters layered underneath!

Honorable mention:
Super Black’s glitter polishes are totally swoon worthy, but sadly they aren’t yet able to ship outside of the USA.
