Scentheads: Favorite Perfumes

Kind of been neglecting my internet duties (aka every job I have, MY BAD, EDITORS) for a well deserved spring break but I have not forsaken you, my cute, well lacquered darlings. In fact when I got home today at 1am I decided to sit right down and tell you all about my new obsession with perfumes. I am now a perfumehead. I live and breathe for signature scents. It’s terrible – like I need another pricey obsession, like lipstick, lingerie, leather jackets and vintage clothing weren’t enough cash sucks. No matter. I want to share with you my favorite scents! Note none of these were given to me, I purchase all my perfumes with my own money, though these are affiliate links. Of course, you don’t have to use them.

Details on each one – the base notes, head, heart, price etc after the jump.

1. Balenciaga L'Essence - $135 for 2.5 fl oz (the largest bottle) - This is the scent that made me into a perfumehead. My love affair started when it was released in 2011. I have had and tried perfumes before then – mostly Estee Lauder and Dior – but they all just weren’t right for me and my parents actually would spray those in the air to punish me for waking up late because they knew I hated how they smelled on me so much, haha. But. This! Smels beautiful and people actually trail behind me to smell me when I wear it. Signature scent. It’s a pretty unisex fragrance (I prefer colognes naturally) and a very androgynous scent.

What does it actually smell like, though: Woodsy, green. Amber head, violet notes the heart, vanilla and musk as the base. Contains green notes, cedarwood, patchouli, and vetiver. (Vetiver is one of my favorite smells!)

I actually am fond of all of the Balenciaga scents and have Florabotanica and the original in a lot of little perfume samples. They are more floral and feminine smelling, and I prefer this one because it kind of smells like leather at the every end.

2. Tom Ford Tuscan Leather $205 for 1.7 oz (smallest bottle) - It was probably a terrible idea for me to randomly decide to play at the Tom Ford Counter, because I adore his luxurious foray into cosmetics almost as much as I adore his old work in suits and cinematography. i saw leather and zoomed into this scent and my reaction was primal obsession in an instant, and I sprayed it everywhere – me, my leather jacket (lulz) and my friend, too. Unfortunately it’s expensive as fuck so I will have to satisfy myself with a lot of rollerball samples of it until I can afford it. Also a unisex fragrance (whatever that means).

What does it actually smell like, though: Surprise – it smells like leather. But also cocaine! I’m great at shilling products aren’t I. But f'real, this is somewhat notorious for smelling like cocaine (google it). I do not know what exactly cocaine smells like, but it might explain the fashion socialite obsession with this scent when it came out in like, 2007 (zing. zing with love though!). Tangent. Ok, this smells like leather throughout – smoky, with some raspberry, saffron, thyme. Pretty demanding scent. It appeals to my leather daddy desires.  If you are into that whole 50 Shades of Grey whatever I think whatever his name is would like this scent. At the very least, he’s be a Tom Ford dude.

3. Comme des Garcons Parfum Unisex $97 for 1.7 oz - I am a total, absolute CDG obsessee, it is more of a religion to me than a brand, so it’s no surprise to me that I am not only obsessed with the clothes they produce but the fragrances as well. I love all their fragrances, they are all unusual (Comme is never one for convention) and mostly unisex, though the Undercover line are DEFINITELY super girly and smell strongly like baby powder if you are into that. My favorite scents from CDG are actually the candles & the newly released BLACK but it isn’t available in most places yet.

What does it actually smell like, though: Features a combination of labdanum, styrax, cedarwood, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, honey, rose, cloves, nutmeg, incense and sandalwood tones.

Sorry this ended up being so long, haha, I got carried away with my new obsession. Anyway, what are your favorite smells? Do you have any fav perfumes? Have you tried these? Body chemistry makes all smells react differently, it’d be interesting to know if you hated these or loved these. Lemme know. ;)
