With its blue-painted Georgian Gothic façade , The Abbey stands in old Penzance, commanding views across the harbour to St Michael’s Mount (sunrise is marvellous). Step inside and enter a comforting, mildly bohemian haven created by its owner, the fabled model Jean Shrimpton, nearly 30 years ago, and now run by her son, Thaddeus . The nine bedrooms and one family apartment are all entrancing, and there is the prettiest of walled gardens. The hotel also has its own restaurant, The Slipway, next door.
