One of Anna Held's fencing girls. Gilbert & Bacon (photographer).

A woman in a short velvet dress with an emblem of a heart holds a fencing epee. She sits, with one leg crossed over the other, on a brocade divan, surrounded by pillows. A fencing helmet rests beside her. Judging by the title, she performed with Anna Held (187-? - 1918), a Polish-born actress, lyricist, and composer who had been married to Maximo Carrera and Florenz Ziegfield, Jr. Anna Held's troupe performed in "The Little Duchess" at Macauley's Theatre on April 4, 1902.
