Sasshi did a fishing gesture and said repeatedly the word “memancing” during the talk session today (February 25th, 2012) in the “Dahsyat” event, broadcasted by RCTI, one of the national television networks. The word itself means “fishing”. Being asked to say her first Indonesian word, Sasshi thrilled the wotas by choosing this pretty unexpected word.

Some of the JKT48 members tweeted the word afterwards and the trend began.

The wotas started to say:

“Sasshi, kau memancing hatiku.” (Sasshi, you caught/fished my heart).

“‘Memancing’ is surely a meme among wotas.”

“Salam 'memancing’!” (Happy fishing!)

“Ayo kita 'memancing’ perhatian!” (Literally: let us fish some attention, but it means: let us draw the attention to ourselves).

“There is only one word to describe tonight event: 'memancing’!”

The word can be translated in so many different ways: attractive, engaging, interesting, seducing (lol!), drawing (attention), catching, and of course, fishing!

Well, Sasshi, you sure know how to choose your word!!
