All over the world, the UN employs thousands of interns to help them do their work. These interns are not being paid for their work, which often has no difference with those of permanent staff.
I know; I have been a UN intern myself at UNIC Jakarta. There are times when my superior was absent, and we interns are left to take over his daily tasks. The director was kind enough to let us handle some projects so that we can get payment as freelancers, but of course many are not as lucky as we were.
Matt Hamilton, the founder of this petition, has been called to speak at the Headquarter about this issue next Tuesday.
