First Full Promo for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
After releasing a seven-second teaser, earlier Sunday, Marvel Studios released a full thirty-second trailer Sunday night.
For me, the seven-second teaser (a Vine video) didn’t really reveal anything about the series, other than showing that it’s at least not going to look like shit; I already knew that. With this thirty-second promo, however, we do get to see a little bit more about what the series will be–obviously, because it’s longer–even though we still don’t really see a whole hell of a lot.
What we do see is that, at least the pilot, will be heavy on the Agent Coulson involvement; that’s fantastic because Clark Gregg totally owns the nonchalant confidence of the leader of a secret agent team. That’s what this is: a team of secret agents. Phil is doing his best Nick Fury and pulling together a team of agents who will tackle the more minor, day-to-day goings-on of S.H.I.E.L.D. operations following the events in New York (In The Avengers).
Something else we may have seen? Luke Cage. At least that’s what some have been guessing. It hasn’t been confirmed, however, and I have my doubts. In the trailer, J. August Richards (Gunn of Joss Whedon’s Angel) is shown in an unspecified role, jumping out of buildings and basically being all super-human and Luke Cage-like. It’s also possible he could be Nick Fury Jr., who also possesses super-human abilities and would seem to be at least a bit closer to Richards’ body type. He could also just be an agent or an as-of-yet unidentified dude. It’s really all up in the air, at this point.
Marvel has also unveiled an official Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. website: WeAreTheRisingTide.com On the site, you’ll find a blog detailing plenty of information about the series’ events, videos, and presumably a lot more, as we get closer to the series premiere and move beyond it into the series’ first season.
The series’ pilot is directed by Joss Whedon and written by Joss Whedon, with his brother Jed and Jed’s wife Maurissa Tancharoen. Those three are also executive producing the series, along with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb. There is a lot of big-name talent behind this–of course–so there should be no reason to doubt it will be awesome… hopefully… maybe… oh, please!

Do you think that’s Luke Cage? How many kinds of excited are you for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? By the way, that’s a fairly clunky name, but Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is even worse. At least neither one of them is Marvel’s Agents of Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate, right?
