We all have grown up with Barnes and Noble being our go to source for buying books and just a great place to get work done and read. With the success of e-readers and digital downloads, many are transitioning to the almost weightless concept of personal libraries being portable. For the past couple years hard-copies of books have lowered which is causing problems for those book stores – Borders closing and Barnes-&-Noble hurting.

Luckily, Barnes & Noble jumped on the train and has an e-reader of their own and is a competitor of the online-book sales. Amazon is by far a nightmare of any company now because of the expansion they’ve had in the past couple of years. The Nook and Kindle are the two most bought e-readers as of today. That’s great for Amazon , but being that Barnes & Noble is a company that has over 1,300 stores in the US with physical copies of books, I find it very hard to be successful.

So why is it that Apple is trying to purchase the retailer: Barnes & Noble

With iTunes 11 coming out in Septemeber and Apple announcing that their book store will be cloud-based and also be able to rent text books, this could be a great acquisition.

What do you think?
