Dynamic Film Review | Argo | 10.24.12

Argo fuck yourself.

I’m serious. Ok, not really, but it kind of has a natural ring to it, doesn’t it? Recently taking a visit to el teatro to check out this flick, we got a glimpse of what Ben Affleck can do when he’s not messing around in the Southie projects. I’m kinda impressed.

In his latest film, he directs and stars in a film based on the true story of the hostage rescue that took place in Iran during the 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis. Children of that generation will get a kick out of how authentic the set and costume design was to the actual era, and if you have even an ounce of patriotic blood in your body —you’ll be once again be reminded about what makes this country great. We seem to forget that sometimes.

The film is a tad long, but it’s all apart of Affleck’s set up. Comprised of an ensemble cast of grade A actors (Byran Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, etc.), Argo hits you in the gut with the feeling of what the political climate was back then. And just when you think you might fall asleep, Affleck touches you with more action. All of it culminating with a super duper intense final 45 minutes. Thrilling to say the least. It’s a Sunday kind of film if you have a few hours you want to invest in feeling good about being an American.

As for Mr. Affleck — the kid’s evolving.
