An IPA a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
Beer #65
Back in Black Cascadian Dark Ale/Black IPA/Whatever (21st Amendment Brewery)
First off, a shout out to lupulin and drinkipa for the glassware rinsing tip. I never really thought about why some brewery taprooms have the quick rinse thing on their drip tray. Now I just need to stop leaving my glassware around for my roommates to pop in the dishwasher.
Color is very dark.
Aroma is hoppy but also has a metallic tint to it that is often in beers with roasted malt. Taste-wise, there’s just the hoppiness and slight roastyness. It’s nice because the malt used to make the beer so dark is de-bittered so doesn’t contribute an overly roasty character. Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe round out the hop bill.
I don’t usually care a ton for roasty beers or black IPAs, but this one is damn pleasant.
