To be completely fair, in the manga both Usagi and Chibiusa kissed Mamoru and Helios respectively when they were unconcious as well (to wake them up using magic though) in deliberate reversal of the trope

so the consent issues are problematic and skeevy to me as well, but equal oppurtunity in this franchise

and manga had Mamoru kiss Usagi when she was unconscious as well (twice and once she was DRUNK) so it isn’t just the anime (though the anime did that with Mamoru at least three times so still worse than the manga)

I just realize though, that never happens in the live action! (There is only one kiss in the live action actually) So maybe Naoko Takeuchi (who was heavily involved) realized that was problematic, since she is awesome and all.

But to reasssure you, this is the last time that happens (oh but you haven’t seen R yet um twice in R to be fair Usagi was DEAD one of those times is consent an issue when you’re dead? I’ll leave that up to the philosophers whatever)
