Anonymous asked: I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but do you have any tips for the plus size goth gal looking for clothes? Thrifting isn't really an option in my area, at least for me, and that seems to be the only thing I ever hear.

While thrifting is usually my default answer, I acknowledge that it isn’t a perfect solution. It takes time, luck, patience, and if you’re not on the smaller end of the plus size range, it becomes even more difficult. However, here are some links that might be helpful!

  • Holy Clothing - good for flowy, romantigoth clothing! Be warned, they toss words such as “g*psy” and “boho” around in descriptions, which is disheartening. But the garments are well-made, and they have a size range that goes up to 5X.
  • Chic Star - romantigoth, steampunk, and rockabilly dresses, tops, skirts, and jackets, with sizes up to “plus 26”. Their “layered long velvet vest” is one of my favorite items of clothing ever, to the point of my owning four of them (three black velvet, with different buttons that I added, and one red velvet).
  • The epic plus size store list that floats around here on Tumblr

Also, always check “normal” stores and see what things you can find that can be added to your gothy wardrobe - basic staples in black can be decorated or altered, or can be worn with gothy accessories.

And now I open it up to peeps reading this: any other helpful plus goth shopping suggestions?
