I’ve long wondered what that very large skyscraper is that you often see in pictures of Clowes’ studio (seen here in the second picture) but until now it never occurred to me to just try searching. A quick image search for ‘skyscraper toy’ turns up the answer immediately: it’s a Marx playset from the 1950s - 1960s.
A near-complete skyscraper went for $880 on eBay last month, which you can see here with many pictures. An ad for the skyscraper can also be seen here.
